Žižka Square. In 1904 a policeman in a hurry able was still able to run faster than the camera’s exposure time. That’s why he is not sharp. How wonderful the days when you were able to run faster than time!

Two oil lamps can be seen by the fountain in this photograph of Žižka Square, streets being illuminated by these means until František Křižík introduced electric lighting. The picture shows one of Křižík’s lamps behind the fountain. The photograph was taken shortly after 1910 because the Post Office building already has a rounded addition designed by Theodor Petřík.
