Ignác Šechtl and Josef Jindřich Šechtl: Calendar 2013: January

Křížík Square. Skiers sliding happily into 1923: it is the beginning of an economic boom. This was shortly to be followed by a severe global crisis. Now we go into 2013 during a crisis. Hooray! Logic tells us we can expect the situation to improve soon.

Skiing competetion on Křižík Square in Tábor, 1923. That same year in Prague the Seventh International Skiing Congress took place, where the idea originated of establishing the International Skiing Federation (FIS). This was founded the following year in Chamonix during the Week of Winter Sports (a year later this was retrospectively declared the First Winter Olympics).
