Czech description: Thir, 1920, na str. 562 je k domu čp. 236 uvedeno: "...konečně roku 1867 koupil dům Bedřich Gause, Marie s baštou za 2800 zl., ale bez marštale, která odprodána Václ. Borovičkovi. Aloisii. Nynějším majetníkem jest Augustin Gause. (Od r. 1915 dcery Anna, Marie, Božena.)".

Gausovy domy byly postaveny před polovinou 19. století na samém okraji města. Jednou stranou stály u Pražské brány a z boční strany byly spojeny s hradební baštou. Po zbourání brány byly rozšířeny směrem do Pražské ulice bohatě zdobenou dekorativní přístavbou s obchody a lékárnou (v pravé části fotografie). Po demolici roku 1934 zůstala jen hradební bašta. Ta se roku 1938 stala součástí nového domu, ve kterém dnes sídlí antikvariát Bastion.
