Ignác Šechtl and Josef Jindřich Šechtl: Apr

Although tanning workshops disappeared completely from Tábor and from the banks of River Lužnice, this part of town is still called "The Tannery". Since this craft, formerly so typical of Tábor, the tannery workers earned a nickname "Blue Bellies". This because the bluestone was used for leaching of the animal hides, which thus also colored the tanners work aprons. In the upper left part you can see the synagogue built in 1885 and destroyed in 1977.
