Ignác Šechtl and Josef Jindřich Šechtl: April: House No. 13, Prague Street

The Latin inscription between the upper pair of windows reads, “Aedilus hisce procul fur ignis et avidus absit at que Dei benedictio que adsit!” This wish for God’s blessing and His protection against thieves, fire and the avaricious was much needed. The house experienced the ups and downs of its owners, often changed hands, and saw a lot of trade. Its first owner was burgess Václav Veverka in 1551.
