Ignác Šechtl and Josef Jindřich Šechtl: August

Were it not for the town’s skyline in the background it would be hard today to find out where in 1901 or 1902 the photographer was standing when he took this picture. He was with his camera somewhere in Horky between some detached houses and the margins of Pintovka Forest, looking toward Tábor residential area and the bridge across the river. He did not however see either of these. There was still no bridge joining the opposite banks and the residential area of the future was just being heralded by the new villa “Black Lily”. What behind the picture frame builders had not yet made is in the photograph made up for by the long tree shadows.
