Description:
Jordán valley reservoir, built in 1492. It has an area or more than 52 hectares, fed by a catchment area of some 80 square kilometres, and operates at a constant storage volume of 800,000 cubic metres, with maximum storage capacity nearly 2 million cubic metres. The dam reaches a length of 283 metres and its maximum height above ground exceeds 20 metres. The bottom is 63 metres in width and the volume of soil excavated reached 150,000 cubic metres. If we add to this the technical solution to water drainage (two bottom outlets and one upper) and the connection of this system to transport the water (water station, water tower in the ramparts and pipes and storage tanks in the town), it is clear that only a well-functioning prosperous community could afford to realize such a complex construction project in the late fifteenth century. Published in the book Tábor: painted by light (2016)
