House “U Lva” before reconstruction.
Digital reproduction from a 13 × 18 cm glass negative; photograph from 1903.
The “U Lva” house has an ornate Baroque facade. After pillars and layers of plaster were removed, frescoes were uncovered. Poor-quality restoration and conservation of the frescoes, together with air pollution, caused the paintings to disappear quickly. Today they are replaced by copies.
