THE FREE THOUGHT CONGRESS (pp. 1154 and 1155), held in Prague from 8 to 12 September of this year, was indeed a distinguished gathering, at which much that was good and commendable was said by speakers representing various nationalities. Even if this congress had achieved nothing other than drawing the attention of broad sections of our public to the noble efforts of free thinkers and the admirable aims of this movement, it would already have accomplished enough. In this magazine we have already had an opportunity to describe in greater detail the significance of the Free Thought association, which here too, it seems, is beginning not only to be understood but also consciously promoted by people of outstanding cultural importance (Prof. Dr. Krejčí, the writer F. V. Krejčí, Dr. Scheiner, Dr. V. Bouček, and others), and will thereby undoubtedly win broader confidence in its mission. Today we merely supplement the reports on this important international congress with several pictures showing, in groups, particularly distinguished congress guests from abroad, as well as a picture from the congress participants’ excursion to Tábor, where respectful tribute was paid to the memory of Hus and Žižka.
