The column with a small meteorological station was erected by the Czech Tourist Club in 1909. In 1935 a statue of A. Švehla was erected in its place and the column was moved to Hus Park. While gathering data for a survey of meteorological columns then being prepared, I looked through, among other things, the brochure marking the 30th anniversary of the Tábor branch of the Czech Tourist Club. I noticed several photographs that I remembered from your website. Because the publication was issued on 1 December 1922, we can establish with absolute certainty the upper date limit for the following photographs: deska0566 (by coincidence we established the lower limit last year), deska0562, deska0272 and deska2537; for the latter we can also establish a lower date limit using information I posted some time ago on our club website: www.volny.cz/kct-tabor/cesky/fontana.htm ("In 1920 the Tábor branch of the Czech Tourist Club had a statue with a fountain erected in Hus Park in front of the railway station. It was named Girl with a Jug. It was created by V. Suchomel, a native of Tábor and professor at the sculpture school in Hořice.") R. Černý
