Description:
The South Bohemian Exhibition in Tábor in 1929, combined with a Czechoslovak military exhibition, was the city's first significant achievement of modern architecture. The exhibition grounds on the shore of Jordán, on the site of today's swimming stadium and Stadion míru, were designed by the young avant-garde architect Jan Chomutovský and Professor Theodor Petřík, a native of Tábor and husband of Milada Petříková Pavlíková, the first Czech woman architect. All the pavilions were built as temporary wooden structures; only one survives today, serving as a gymnasium at Stadion míru.
