The international skating races to be held on 5 February 1922 by the Racing Club Prague, together with the Jordán Rowing Club and B.K. Tábor, will be a first-rate sporting novelty for our town and are intended to lay the foundation for the further sporting future of our clubs, so that Tábor may become a centre of winter sports, a Czech Davos. An attempt will be made this year to unite all sports clubs into a single organization.

TÁBOR newspaper, 17 February 1922

The international skating races held in Tábor last Sunday were successful beyond all expectations. Messrs Štelzer, Treasurer Novák, Eng. Morávek and Procurist Matoušek deserve no small share of the credit for their success, and the participating clubs hereby express their thanks to them.

More than 70 competitors arrived from various places on Saturday and Sunday. At 9:30 the figure-skating school began and lasted until 12:30 p.m. Several speed-skating races were also run. In the afternoon, to the sounds of the Písek military band, the program was very varied: figure skating alternated with speed skating, and at the end the teams of Slavia and B.Z.K. played a hockey match.

We admired the grace of the participants' movements not only during the figure skating, but also in the evening, when they showed us modern dances at the social. The Czechoslovak champion, Docent Rychlík, chief physician of the hospital in J. Hradec, took part in the figure skating out of competition. He is known in the sporting world as a former captain of Slavia and, before that, an excellent stroke in a four whose coxswain was Mr Novák, the treasurer. This four won countless races in Prague, Roudnice, Budapest, etc. Twenty-five years ago both joined the Slavia rowing club and, although over the years they found themselves in different places, we meet them year after year at race venues – always almost unchanged. Here we see most clearly the results of healthy sport. The work they have done for sport is worthy of respect. Slavia missed them for a long time, and whenever they come to Prague they are always welcome guests.

Thank you, Mrs Hroncová.
