Kerosene lamps.
Digital reproduction from a 13 × 18 cm glass negative; photograph taken before 1902.
Gas lighting was never introduced in Tábor. The original rapeseed-oil lamps were replaced by kerosene lamps. These, like this one, were mounted on houses and were cared for by the house owners unless they bought themselves out of this obligation. The lamps were not lit every day. For example, they were not lit in summer or on bright moonlit nights.
