Description:
House “U Lípy”, no. 72, on Filipovská Street, demolished before 1908.
Digital reproduction from a 13 × 18 cm glass negative; photograph from 1906.
On the site of today’s Art Nouveau house, in which you are now standing, once stood this old house. It was called “U Lípy” after the tree in the monastery garden opposite. The mason Jan Pravda bought the house, demolished it, and in 1908 built a house with an upper storey, a restaurant and guest rooms in its place. He surely did not imagine that under its roof one day a congregation of the Adventist Church, a confectioner’s shop and the Museum of Photography would meet.
