Description:
House no. 9 on Žižka Square, demolished in 1910.
Digital reproduction from a 13 × 18 cm glass negative; photograph taken before 1910.
This picturesque house from the first half of the 16th century housed an inn from 1862. In 1910 it was bought by the Citizens’ Savings Bank, which built a circular annex on its site to a design by architect Theodor Petřík. In Karel Thir’s 1920 book Staré domy a rodiny táborské we read: “Architecturally, our house had no particular value. That stone corbel which projected from the side of the building and which was said to have been some kind of Hussite pulpit was merely a simple support for the former wooden gallery, which almost every Tábor house with one upper storey had in the 16th century.”
