Jan Novák, professor at the gymnasium in Tábor, born 21 November 1840 in Bohuslavice (near Nové Město nad Metují), died 15 January 1919 in Tábor. He was the son of Antonín Novák, a teacher from Bohuslavice, and the brother of my great-grandfather on my mother's side, and of others.

Varnishing has been used for collodium wet process negatives (used before the year 1890) but certainly some of later gelatine based negatives are varnished as well (minimally to the year 1901).
