Synagogue, demolished in 1977.
Digital reproduction from a 13 × 18 cm glass negative, photograph from 1893 to 1895.
The synagogue was built on the site of several houses. The large Moorish-style building looked unexpected and exotic in the town panorama. In the photograph it is shortly after completion in 1885. After the Second World War the building remained abandoned and unmaintained, and in 1977 it was demolished because of its poor technical condition. Its site remains an empty space with a car park to this day.
Please help us to identify who is on the photograph.
