Konency has dated the photos to the summer of 1966. He was a member of the CZ works team in 1965-66 before moving on to ride for different teams. It turns out that although the Model 980, which is what he is riding in the photos, did not go on general sale until 1968, a very small number of prototypes were in existence by the summer of 1966 and were used by the official factory team. This is what Konecny is riding in the photos - a brand new prototype. Now we can understand why your grandfather was asked to take the photos!
