Ignác Šechtl and Josef Jindřich Šechtl: Calendar 2013: December

As well as the fact that the gymnasium on Mikulase z Husi Square was the first Czech grammar school under the monarchy, it also worth mentioning that it stood next to the prison. Teachers would doubtless have told pupils they would end up there if they did not listen.

Students in the front of the gymnasium (grammar school) on Mikuláše z Husi Square. On the right is part of the church. Enlightened Tábor citizens founded this grammar school in 1858. It was the first Czech grammar school in the Empire and it brought many important people to Tábor.
