Ignác Šechtl and Josef Jindřich Šechtl: March

When taking this picture, the photographer set his camera between the beginning of Bezručova Street and the waterfall. Today there is a park, then there was not. Likewise, Bezručova Street was not known then either. (Petr Bezruč was the pseudonym of Czech writer Vladimír Vašek, 1867–1958.) Nearby the waterfall was naturally roaring, but the photographer deliberately passed it by with his lens. Instead, he offers a view over the valley, in which trees were already growing – nevertheless, the Old Town, seen clearly on the horizon, appears close at hand. Note that the house called Přehořovka is not to be seen. It had not yet been built.
