1935–1936: Trip with Milena and Cízlerová

“Josef Jindřich Šechtla and Leica camera ” — Ninth exhibition of Šechtl & Voseček Museum of Photography.

Trip by Škoda Populár (registered in Duchcov) to Choustník Castle, Goat Castle, and to Lužnice River. With its cheap price, this small car was a true success for Škoda, and it became really popular, as its name suggests. It could travel at up to 80 km/h, with a fuel consumption of 7.5 litres per 100 km. Girls adored the car, perhaps because it was chosen by the most famous Czech goal-keeper of the time, František Plánička. While four Škoda Populárs drove a 4-month-long journey to India in 1934, as one can see from the photo essay, even during the trip to Choustník, severe technical difficulties had to be solved.

Sitting second from the left in the group photo is the second wife of the photographer, Božena. The last photograph shows the site of a chapel where Jan Hus served Mass.
