1948: Reunion of WWII prisoners

” — Ninth exhibition of Šechtl & Voseček Museum of Photography.

Agfa Isopran 29 shots

This panoramic photograph, constructed from three 35 mm photos is from the reunion of former WWII prisoners.. The year 1948 can be identified by the first slogan banner: “We are joining unified physical training”. This happened in 1948 when the last Sokol meet was held and the whole organisation was banned by the Communist government (by officially making it part of the new unified physical training organisation). The other slogans read “For people republic”, “Unified in misery, unified in work”, “Cooperation with Soviet Union, the only warranty”, “bars unified – life obliges”, “In unity is power”, “Death to renegades and fascists”.
