1931, 1932: Sokol swimming baths

” — Ninth exhibition of Šechtl & Voseček Museum of Photography.

Gevaert Belgium, Perutz 39, 23 shots

In these photographs from the newly-built swimming baths, we see for the first time, true “sport photography”, and the ability of the new camera to “capture the moment”. The shutter speed of Leica I was in the range from 1/20 to 1/500 second.

It is obvious from the pictures that a significant number of patrons were cooperating with the photographer. Josef Jindřich was clearly fascinated by this new city attraction – during the period 1931–1934, he took 131 photographs here!
