Description:: First president of YWCY. On the back of one photograph: Marie Záhořová-Němcová, the last photograph taken during her lifetime. She died in Brno, struck down by a heart attack. Governor Černý did not grant her request for financial support for Imka, of which she was director, and partly from strong indignation and partly because she suffered from a heart condition, she collapsed on the stairs as she was leaving his office. It was her last visit with us. She told me she would fly to Brno; I warned her not to do it, to take her weak heart into account, but she laughed that the flight took only a few minutes.
The governor’s refusal, her weak heart, and the great heat at the time hastened the death of this remarkable woman, who could proudly claim Božena Němcová as her grandmother. Božene Šechtlová
