Description:
In the centre is Vojta, upper left František Pěnka. The tambura players’ circle was active in Tábor from 1896. This music came to Bohemia in 1890. In 1892 the Prague tambura ensemble gave a concert at the theatre in Tábor; the source text then has the sequence “táborský medik OtomarJosef Šechtl, fotograf. Pivoňka” among those who played. At the founding of the Tábor group were Karel Vojta, who worked in Cikhart’s office, and Jan and Gustav Volák, sons of a baker. Later came Hynek Černík, a teacher; they met at the U koruny inn in Kotnovská Street. Later came: Štěpán Doubek, organist; Rehlich, retoucher at Šechtl; Trsek, grammar-school graduate; Karel Pruner, teacher; Richard Hrdlička, typographer; finally Bohumil Beneš, merchant; Černý, accountant from Brdlík’s mill; and Jaroslav Posadovský, accountant at the savings bank. All by 1897. On 19 July Vojta married and his friends gave me this tableau; it includes Alexandr Kamberský, Rehlich, Černý, Setunský, Posadovský, Baneš, the Voláks, Trska, Vojta, Pivoňka, Šechtl, Hrdlička, Pruner and Pěnka. Later they met at the Setunský family in 1901 and at Hotel Amort. Mojmír Pěnka.
