Žižka Square, Imperial manoeuvres. Officers, town representatives, policeman and driver. But where are the ordinary soldiers? Indeed, but for them, the dignitaries would have had to find another reason to show themselves off in front of the people.

Imperial manoeuvres on Žižka Square, 1913. Manoeuvres or excercises of the Austro-Hungarian army and navy took place almost every year. Imperial manoeuvres were those that were visited by the Emperor in person. Manoeuvres were directed by the Übungdirektor, appointed by the Emperor. For a long time it was Field Marshal Erzherzog Albrecht and after him the Chief of Staff.
