Karel Kramář (first prime
minister of Czechoslovakia) stopped in Tábor on September 27, 1919
on his return from the peace conference in France, saying: “We,
with Dr. Beneš, are giving you the foundations of the freedom of an
independent republic, we are giving you the foundations of a
building that can be great and beautiful. But it now depends on
you, on all the people.”
